Thinking about taking part in research?

Clinical research only works because people volunteer for it. Here is what that actually involves, in plain language — so you can decide with your eyes open.

  • Your safety comes first

Every study is reviewed and approved by an independent ethics committee before anyone is enrolled, and monitored continuously while it runs.

  • Your choice, always

Taking part is voluntary. You can say no, or change your mind later, without giving a reason and without affecting your normal care.

  • Your privacy is protected

Study records identify you by a code, not your name. Data shared beyond the study team is de-identified.
